48. Salpetre barn and sheep shed

To be able to make gun powder for the King’s Army, the farmers were ordered to boil urine-drenched dirt from the cow shed into saltpetre in sheds like this. Because of the fire hazard and the smell, they were usually placed some ways off from the rest of the farm.
